Permalac Lacquer

Permalac is a remarkable interior/exterior coating which is air-dried and provides a satin, crystal clear, highly durable finish. Originally developed as a protective finish for copper, brass and bronze, Permalac has also been used successfully on steel, resins, wood, terracotta and concrete. It is weatherproof, and resistant to both ultraviolet light and salt air atmospheres. Permalac is an incredible clear solvent lacquer for all types of metals (contains inhibitors for Iron & Steel and well as Bronze, Brass, & Copper). It lasts ten years outside and has a beautiful satin finish. Great over patinas or directly on polished metal - it will not discolor the surface. The satin finish is just right - not too glossy or too flat. It has been found that even a blow torch could not discolor a brass fitting protected by Permalac! For brush application, it is ready to use. For spray application thin with 20% xylene (available at hardware stores). Or for thinning in colder weather, thin with 70% xylene and 30% toluene. Permalac air dries to the touch in less than 5 minutes; may be force dried faster at 250 F. Air dries hard in an hour or so, depending on the film thickness, temperature etc. Approximate coverage up to 35 square feet for 12oz spray can and 350 square feet per gallon can. Available in aerosol and non-aerosol and in flat and satin.

Everything you love about Permalac Lacquer is now available in an extra rugged finish that is great for fountains, counter tops, all high traffic/high use areas, or harsh outdoor conditions.  Permalac 2K is a clear two-part 50/50 mix of parts A and B. To use, apply two layers of the regular one part Permalac Laquer.  Wait 2 hours to cure.  Mix equal amounts of A + B Permalac 2K.  Ad 10% Xylene (or Xylol) to the A/B mix.  Working time is 4 hours.  Spray (best) or brush on the Permalac 2k mixture over the base layers of the one part Permalac.  Wait 2 hours and then apply a second layer of 2K.  Allow 24 hours to cure—this may take up to 48 hours depending upon temperature.  Apply wax if desired.  Available in 32 oz kits or 1 gallon kits.  Satin.
